- • Kharwas (Kharmas) is taken as the time the Sun spends in sidereal Dhanu (240°–270°) or Meena (330°–360°): from Dhanu Sankranti to Makara Sankranti, and from Meena Sankranti to Mesha Sankranti.
- • Sun position: astronomy-engine 2.1.19 (apparent geocentric longitude) minus the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsha — the same engine as Today's Panchang.
- • Start and end moments are found by a daily scan followed by bisection to within one second. No dates are stored or typed in by hand.
- • Times are Sankranti instants shown in Indian/Mauritius time. Some traditions shift observance to the next sunrise; this page shows the exact ingress moment.
