How It Works
Calculation, methodology and trust
YOUR ASTROLOGER is built around astronomical calculation and documented traditional Panchang and Jyotish methodology, with the basis for every value shown openly.
Astronomical calculation first
Planetary positions, sunrise, sunset and the five limbs of the Panchang are computed from ephemeris data for a specific location and timezone — never estimated.
Documented traditional methodology
Jyotish interpretations follow documented classical rules. The rule applied to each result is stated alongside it so you can check the basis.
AI explains, never invents
AI is used only to explain results that have already been calculated. It never produces or alters planetary positions, Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, sunrise, sunset, chart placements or festival dates.
Honest limits
This platform does not claim that astrology scientifically predicts future events. Colours, numbers and similar entries are presented as traditional cultural associations.
Calculation parameters
Every Panchang differs according to the settings used to compute it. These are the parameters this platform will publish for every result.
Location
Port Louis, Mauritius (20.1609° S, 57.5012° E)
Default reference location for Build 1. Multi-location support is planned.
Timezone
Indian/Mauritius (UTC+04:00, no daylight saving)
Civil day boundaries and all displayed times use this zone.
Calculation system
Sidereal (Nirayana), geocentric
Tropical true-ecliptic-of-date longitudes (with light-time and aberration) minus the ayanamsha.
Ayanamsha
Lahiri (Chitrapaksha), mean
23.857092° at J2000.0 (Swiss Ephemeris SE_SIDM_LAHIRI anchor) advanced by IAU 2006 general precession. Nutation is not added (≤17″ effect).
Ephemeris / source
astronomy-engine 2.1.19 (pinned, Don Cross, MIT)
Deterministic in-browser library based on VSOP87 and NOVAS-derived models; stated accuracy about ±1 arcminute. No AI, scraping or external API.
Node convention
Mean lunar node (Rahu); Ketu = Rahu + 180°
Meeus, Astronomical Algorithms eq. 47.7. Mean nodes are always shown retrograde.
Sunrise methodology
Upper limb, standard refraction, sea level
Port Louis coordinates; sunrise/sunset for the Mauritius civil day (00:00–24:00 UTC+4).
Panchang methodology
Instantaneous limbs with searched end times
Tithi/Karana from Moon−Sun elongation (12°/6°); Nakshatra/Pada and Yoga from sidereal longitudes (13°20′). End times found by hourly scan plus bisection to 1 second. Vara (weekday) runs sunrise to sunrise. Retrograde from ±6 h central difference.
Kharwas (Kharmas)
Sun in sidereal Dhanu or Meena
Dhanu Sankranti → Makara Sankranti and Meena Sankranti → Mesha Sankranti, found by daily scan plus bisection on the Lahiri sidereal Sun; shown as exact Mauritius-time ingress moments.
What this platform does not do
- • It does not generate random or entertainment horoscopes.
- • It does not promise outcomes or predict future events.
- • It does not present traditional associations as scientific findings.
- • It does not display a calculated value until a verified calculation source provides it.
